  7.      USE THE MOUSE BUTTONS:-

  9.     ( [S] = SELECT/LEFT   [M] = MENU/MIDDLE  [A] = ADJUST/RIGHT )

  11.     In Paint Area :- [S] To Draw     [M] to Spray     [A] for Shapes

  16.     In Box F :- [S] Fill on [A] Fill off [M] Double X,Y sizes
  17.     In Box E :- [S] Ellipses [A] Points  [M] Make size X=Y
  18.     In Box S :- Sizes

  20.              Bottom:- [S] Increase Y [A] Decrease Y [M] Restore Y=1  
  21.     In Box A :- [S] Increase Angle of ellipse [A] Decrease Angle

  24. Function Keys=Symmetries :-
  25.         Points are initially plotted. Ellipses are drawn if it has
  26. been selected in Box E, and if X,Y sizes have been defined in Box S.
  27. The ellipses will be filled or not according to whether Fill has
  28. been selected in Box F. The angle of the ellipse is changed in Box
  29. A. If X and Y are equal the ellipse turns into a circle. This can be
  30. done by clicking [M] in Box E. Sizes are proportionately doubled at
  31. each click in Box F.

  33.  F1=    Symm 1 - [S] Draws 1 way    [M] Sprays 1 way   [A] Flood fills
  34.  F2=    Symm 2 - [S] Draws 4 way    [M] Sprays 4 ways  [A] Triangles
  35.  F3=    Symm 3 - [S] Horiz 2 way    [M] Horiz Reflect  [A] Stars

  45.    KEYS:- INSERT- to grab colour from screen

  48.      To access other Keys first press ENTER (on numeric keypad)-

  51.    A= Make Pattern
  52.    B= Scale
  53.    C= Copy - an area 
  54.    D= Display Sprites - after Sprite file has been selected.  
  55.    E= Enter Text
  56.    F= Fill - toggles the fill status of shapes.
  57.    G= Grab - Area. Sprite control ( FlipX and FlipY )  
  58.    I= Lines in various shapes and thicknesses. 
  59.    J= Frame - Area may be framed before saving. 
  60.    K= Clear Screen
  61.    L= Load - compacted file in automatic sequence.  
  62.    M= Move - an area leaving blank space 
  63.    N= Name of Directory and File (change group filename )
  64.    O= Origin - (Press [S] on chosen point)
  65.    P= Palette - restore if corrupted
  66.    Q= Quit program
  67.    R= Re-colour - [S] selects colour to replace [A] colour to be replaced 
  68.    S= Save - compacted     
  69.    T= Tartans  
  70.    W= Width and Height x,y sizes of brush can be changed
  71.    X= Screensave - to any directory or disc
  72.    Y= Screenload - as above
  73.    Z= Grid - painting can be done by squares.
  74.    
  75.    ?/ -  to toggle Co-ordinate display
  76.    * (numeric pad)= Extras - add your own routines. An extra one which
  77. allows Tracing with the mouse is included here.   
  78.    HOME= Test Screen - You can experiment before adding to picture.
  79.    PRINT= (if you add your PRINTER ROUTINE in space at the end of the
  80. program.

  82.    Within some routines:-
  83.    <> To Resize various shapes - and +
  84.    [] Distances from Centre of rotation - and + 
  85.    ESC to get out of trouble - SPACE returns to program. 
  86.                 
  87.    On Key Pad:- 1 to 8 controls the way the colours are displayed. OR,AND,EOR
  88. etc

  91.        32000 Colours are available. 256 by clicking [S] in Colour Bar.Click
  92.  [A] in Colour Bar to combine it with the first colour. Clicking [M] on 
  93.  Colour Bar gives a choice of 9 colour patterns or the facility to define 9 
  94.  other patterns. To define a patterns click [M] on four colours in succession
  95.  
  96.        There are 8 Types of Symmetry. On starting Symm 1 is already
  97. selected. If you need to enclose an area to flood fill, then it is
  98. better to draw with ellipses (x=1,y=1) instead of points. 
  99.        You can change the centre of Symmetry by pressing "O". This can be 
  100. done several times to produce  symmetrical patterns distributed
  101. symmetrically.
  102.        Symm7- Circles- allows you to choose between 3 and 9 points
  103. arranged on an invisible circle of a chosen size. One point is on the
  104. centre of the screen. The other points will be arranged according to
  105. the orientation which can be changed by using [S]. The Pointer is
  106. initially on the spot with respect to which the drawing is done. The
  107. same drawing will be repeated on  all  the other points. Complete
  108. symmetry can be obtained holding down the resize buttons <>. Note the
  109. points and move the pointer to a chosen  position and press [A] to
  110. change this point. [M] to exit. You can then make each point into the
  111. origin by pressing O, and draw using symm2 or buton [A] in other
  112. symmetries. This can create very complex patterns.
  113.

  115.        All sizes will be affected by pressing the appropriate buttons in the
  116. Size Area. Sizes can reach + or -300 in X AND Y directions.     
  117.        
  118.        There are a great number of patterns which can be created with the 
  119. Triangles, Ellipses and Rectangles. Press [A] to change pattern. [S] to 
  120. change angles. < to decrease size and > to increase size. Some
  121. patterns will repeat themselves, but do persist they will change as
  122. there are many sets of 12. A picture full of patterns can be grabbed
  123. as sprites and  plotted in other pictures. 
  124.       Several Pictures may be loaded or saved in succession within this
  125.  Directory. They will be called SymPic1, SymPic2, SymPic3 and so on. It is
  126. advisable to change these names for the next session otherwise they
  127. will be written over the next time this program is used. Or move them
  128. to another directory from time to time. However, by entering your own
  129. names for the load and save files you will still get a succession of
  130. files with the chosen name but numbered in series.  A program called
  131. "ShowPic" in the Directory Screens can be used to display pictures
  132. without the program loaded.

  134.      There are pictures in the Directory 'Screens', not very sophisticated,
  135. but showing all the features of this program.     
  136.    
  137.      Do use the test screen ( Press HOME ) to try out various
  138. patterns  before placing them on the picture. 
  139.        
  140.        You are free to modify the program, specially to convert it to the 
  141. multi-tasking WIMP mode. Several facilities are missing e.g rescale, 
  142. graduated fills and erase. You can erase by choosing a suitable sized
  143. filled ellipse. If anyone adds these or converts it to the RiscOS WIMP 
  144. mode, please send me a copy.
